Levofloxacin (tavanic) in treatment of patients with resistant respiratory tract tuberculosis
Yu.I. Feshchenko

The modern approaches to administration of levofloxacin in phthisiatry, especially in cases of resistant tuberculosis, have been presented. The basic statistical and epidemiological indices on tuberculosis in Ukraine, effectiveness of therapy, as well as the causes of treatment failures have been described. All this makes a background for administration of novel respiratory fluoroquinolone - levofloxacin. The chemical and pharmacological characteristics, indications and contraindications, adverse reactions and advantages in comparison with ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin, extensively administered in tuberculosis departments, have been outlined.
Key words: resistant tuberculosis, levofloxacin

Prophylaxis of chronic obstructive bronchitis exacerbations
L.V. Yudina, P.P. Sokur, A.V. Makarov, N.G. Gorovenko

The results of bacterial vaccines application for prophylaxis of chronic obstructive bronchitis exacerbations have been presented. Active immunization led to prolonged remission period and diminished bronchial inflammation. This allowed us to recommend bacterial vaccines in common clinical practice.
Key words: chronic obstructive bronchitis, bacterial vaccines.

Effectiveness of triple antihelicobacter therapy, depending on grade of helicobacter pylori infection, in patients with duodenal peptic ulcer
V.G. Perederiy, S.M. Tkach, V.V. Tishchenko, O.V. Shvets, A.N. Kozhevnikov

A quantitative evaluation of grade of Helicobacter pylori infection, affecting antral portion of ventricle, could be performed using
13C-urea test. Higher DOB index was associated with higher grade of infection. In patients with duodenal peptic ulcer a grade of Helicobacter pylory infection reflected an extent of inflammation of mucous membrane. More intensive inflammation meant higher grade of Helicobacter pylory infection. Eradication of pathogen under the influence of antihelicobacter therapy depended both on grade of infection and therapeutic regimen.
Key words: peptic ulcer of duodenum, Helicobacter pylory, triple antihelicobacter therapy

Efficacy of antitumor vaccines derived from cytotoxic bacterial lectins
G.P. Potebnia, О.А. Таnasienko, G.S. Lisovenko, G.P. Titova

An effective antitumor vaccines on a basis of cytotoxic lectins could be derived from cultural liquid of microbial culture of В. subtilis 7025. This was proved using the model of experimental neoplasm - Erlich cancer, sarcoma-37 and melanoma B-16. It was demonstrated, that these antitumor vaccines increased an antineoplastic resistance of immunized animals. There were also demonstrated the advantages (inhibition of tumor growth, prolonged survival rates) of cytotoxic lectins vaccines as compared to the vaccines, prepared using a cultural liquid filtrate from В. subtilis B-7025.
Key words: antitumor vaccine, cytotoxic lectins, experimental tumors.

Effectiveness of the second line chemotherapy of ovarian cancer
A.S. Dudnichenko, T.P. Yakimova, S.M. Kartashov

In order to estimate the effectiveness of the second line chemotherapy in patients with ovarian cancer (OC) considering the organ involvement and stage of differentiation we examined 378 patients with OC I-IV stages.
Patients with epithelial tumors with determined differentiation degree of neoplasms have been examined. The age of the patients varied from 29 to 72 years. All patients were the candidates for the second line chemotherapy, which platinum-containing medications: CP (cyclophosphamide + cysplatine), cysplatine + lipodox (liposomal form of doxorubicine, "Biolek", Kharkov ), CAP (cyclophosphamide + doxorubicine (free or liposomal form) + cysplatine), cysplatine + paclitaxel. It has been determined that the effectiveness the second line chemotherapy depended upon the stage of the disease (the earlier stage was more likely to respond to the current therapy).
In locally advanced cases the effect of therapy mainly depended on the tumor differentiation. In the III-IV stages of OC the effectiveness of second line chemotherapy depended upon the organ involvement, i.e. timely diagnosing and administration of the current therapy.
Key words: ovarian cancer, chemotherapy, stage of the disease, tumor differentiation.

The influence of cultural conditions of spore-forming aerobic culture of B. subtilis
B-7025 on synthesis of antitumor cytotoxic substances was studied. The procedure of cultivation of bacteria in beef-extract broth, providing the maximum yield of mentioned substances was elaborated. It was shown that peculiarities of biosynthetic processes, cultivating B. subtilis

Organ-retaining operations in breast cancer. Indications
V.I. Tarutinov, S.Yu. Sklyar, O.O. Litvinenko

We analyzed the results of organ-retaining operations, performed during 5 years in 151 patients with nodular forms of breast cancer. The data were compared with the results of extended operations (in 1080 patients). The immediate and distant results of combined therapy have been presented.
The application of organ-retaining methods of antineoplastic treatment brings psychological, cosmetic and social benefits, improving quality of life of the patients, reducing disability, and promoting workability of radically operated patients. Organ-retaining operations are effective in capable of bearing women, suffering from stage I-II breast cancer.

A histological origin, a cellular composition, a grade of malignancy, and immunity phenotype were established, using a set of diagnostic procedures. In grade III-IV luekopenia patients a transfusion of cord blood (CB) led to normalization of white blood count in 1 week. During in vitro cytogenetic study the addition of CB to a donor's blood specimen followed by stimulation of radiologic susceptibility of T-lymphocytes. The drop of aneuploid lymphocytes count on a background of CB stimulated blasttransformation was considered as a sign of lymphocyte pool normalization. This phenomenon requires further evaluation during the course of radiation and chemotherapy.
Key words: malignant lymphomas, cord blood.

Urinary tract infections in patients with diabetes: pecularities of the course, diagnostics and treatment
M.O. Kolesnyk, I.I. Lapchynska, M.M. Kozachok, M.F. Stefanyuk

Urinary tract infection is a major disease burden for many patients with diabetes. Asymptomatic bacteriuria is several-fold more common among women and acute pyelonephritis is five to ten times more common in both sexes. The complications of pyelonephritis (papillary necrosis, emphysematous pyelonephritis, bacteriemia) are also more common in patients with diabetes. The preventive strategy of prophylaxis and treatment of these infections, which should reduce mortality, have been characterized.
Key words: bacteriuria, diabetes, pyelonephritis, cystitis, antibiotics.

The organization of detection of patients with extrapulmonary tuberculosis is a duty of leading healthcare institutions of general network along with experts in extrapulmonary tuberculosis and head tuberculosis specialists. The organization of detection of patients with extrapulmonary tuberculosis depends upon qualification of all medical specialists. All newly diagnosed cases should be sent to the specialists in regional tuberculosis dispensaries. A necessary set of tests and examinations have been presented.
Key words: extrapulmonary tuberculosis, treatment, detection.
